Ron Oldenburg was born in Eldora (Hardin), Iowa as the only child to Lawrence and Bess Oldenburg on June 2, 1935. His childhood was spent between Eldora and Biloxi, Mississippi. Ron graduated from the University of North Carolina and the University of Mississippi School of Law. He then joined in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Captain, and serving as a Judge Advocate stationed oversees in Taiwan After leaving the Air Force, Ron began his legal practice in Taiwan. This began his passionate love affair with immigration law and helping those desiring an opportunity to come to the United States. It is during this time that he met and married his wife, Vickie Yu Oldenburg. Ron and Vickie had three children: John, Keith, and Mark. The family remained oversees in Taipei and then Seoul, Korea. As the children became older, Ron and Vickie decided to relocate to Honolulu, Hawaii. There they raised their children while Ron established his immigration law practice. Along with his work as an attorney, he also spent a short time teaching at the University of Hawaii School of Law. When asked of highlights of his career, he shared that he enjoyed helping good people to immigrate to the United States. He also shared stories of his efforts on behalf of clients such as Socialite Doris Duke and Imelda Marcos. Ron loved his family and the family history. Throughout the years, he took many trips to return to family gatherings, celebrations and reunions in Iowa and Mississippi. There he enjoyed sharing stories, gathering information and learning about the many relations of the Oldenburg and Lewis families. Although his base was in Honolulu, he enjoyed frequent trips to visit family in Biloxi and Eldora. He always felt the call to return to Biloxi and the family home built by Lorney and Bessie. Biloxi became home again. After a battle with illness, he passed in his sleep at his home in Biloxi, Mississippi on the morning of October 15, 2018.
